Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. The electromagnetic field is comprised of an electric field and a magnetic field. Both fields work separately and provide unique therapeutic benefits.

PEMF interacts with organisms at an atomic level. Our cells are made up of atoms, meaning PEMF interacts with living tissue, even at the cellular level.

The electric field induces painless muscle contractions which causes increased circulation. More blood = more nutrients = more healing. The magnetic field interacts with cellular components called ions, which are detrimental to a healthy cell. The magnetic field attracts and repels the ions, allowing them to flow quicker in and out of the cell and therefore accelerating the healing process. PEMF provides many acute and chronic effects, such as: muscle tension relief, analgesia, upregulation of anti-inflammatory proteins, angiogenesis (new blood vessels), and many more. More in-depth science and research can be found below.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping (K-tape) was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase (chiropractor) in the 1960s-1970s. K-tape became very popular in high performance human athletes around the 2000s, and has since only grown in popularity. The K-tape trend has fallen into the horse industry as well. Benefits of K-tape include: increased circulation, joint support, increased proprioception (body awareness), fascia mobilization, and decreased swelling to name a few. More in-depth science and methods can be found below.

Who am I?

My name is Emily and I’ve been riding horses for 22 years. I’ve spent 10 years showing on the AQHA circuit, competing at shows such as the Quarter Horse Congress and AQHA Novice Championships. The Congress is where I was first exposed to PEMF therapy back in 2015. Seeing and feeling the immediate difference in my horse sparked my curiosity in PEMF. I’m currently in university pursing math and chemistry, so my show career is on hold. This gave me the perfect opportunity to start my PEMF business! My BSc. thesis is focusing on synthetic organic chemistry and quantum chemistry. I plan to do a Masters degree, focusing on PEMF and atomic interaction. Since beginning in November 2019, Rebalance Performance Therapy treats clients in Sudbury, Temiskaming, Sault Ste. Marie, Burks Falls, and everywhere inbetween. Hoping to see you soon and help you Rebalance!
